Dr. Potts is UC Foundation Professor of Chemistry at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Dr. Potts earned a BS in Chemistry from Miami University in 1996 and a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Florida in 2000, under the direction of Dr. James Winefordner. Dr. Potts leads an active research program with undergraduate students, publishing in the Anal. Meth., J. For. Sci., Tob. Cont., J. Und. Chem. Res., and ACS Symposium Series. Her research interests include analytical spectroscopy, forensic chemistry, and environmental analytical chemistry. Dr. Potts regularly teaches Methods of Environmental Analysis, Quantitative Analysis, and Instrumental Analysis. She is especially interested in engaging students and improving learning through focused pedagogy and curriculum design. Also active on campus and in the community, Dr. Potts serves and the Chair of the Chattanooga Section of ACS and the Chair of 2022 ACS Exam for Analytical Chemistry.
