Gourab Ghosh is a senior PhD student at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur India. He works on the experimentation and modelling of third generation microalgal biofuel systems under the supervision of Prof. Saikat Chakraborty and Prof. Arnab Atta. Prior to joining Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur in 2018, he did his Masters in Plastics Technology from Central Institute of Plastics Engineering & Technology, Bhubaneswar, India in 2018 and Bachelors in Chemical Engineering from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India in 2016.
At present, he studies the growth of microalgae in bubble-column photobioreactors. As part of his master's work, he worked with Prof. S.K. Nayak on "Development of Transparent Biopolymer Films for Packaging Applications." He is passionate to solve and simulate real life problems. He is proficient with programming tools like MATLAB, Wolfram Mathematica, C++, etc. During his PhD, he worked as a teaching assistant for subjects like Biochemical Engineering ,Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics and Fundamentals of Bioenergy. He has also helped graduate students (M. Techs) with their projects. After getting his bachelor's degree, he cleared GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering), a national competition for graduate students, getting a score of 409 out of 1000 in his very first attempt. He looks forward to contribute to the global scientific community.
