Pre-doctoral period (2016 - 2020): I enrolled in 2016 in the PhD program in Bioengineering - Cell Therapy and Regenerative Medicine at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), University of Lisbon. My thesis was entitled Novel electrospun scaffolds for neural stem cell differentiation under electrical stimulation, and I was supervised by Professor Robert J Linhardt (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute - RPI, USA) and Professor Frederico C Ferreira (Instituto Superior Técnico - IST, Portugal).
Post-doctoral period (2020-today): In 2021, I was granted a national project as PI, BioMaterARISES (FCT, Portugal, 50k€, 2021-2023), to develop biodegradable and electroconductive composites for bone tissue applications.
Current interests include 1) design and productions of artificial/electronic organs, 2) study of biophysical stimuli on cell-cell and cell-biomaterial interactions, 3) Organ-on-a-chip platforms, 4) brain diseases, and 5) synthesis of materials/composites for biomedical applications
