Evan received his BS in Chemistry from Saint Louis University in 2015 and his PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. While at Illinois, Evan worked under the advisement of Jeffrey Moore, Scott White, and Nancy Sottos investigating novel approaches to manufacturing sustainable materials. His work details the development of recyclable thermoplastics and fiber-reinforced composites utilizing metastable polymer matrices, the energy-efficient synthesis of high performance composite materials by frontal polymerization, the programmed deconstruction and upcycling of frontally polymerized thermosets, and the spontaneous patterning of structural materials during frontal polymerization. He is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Duke University working with Stephen Craig to develop novel multinetwork materials.
