In the rapidly evolving landscape of modern science, the chemistry of psychedelic compounds, has emerged as an area of profound exploration and significance. Psychedelics have been the subject of renewed interest, with groundbreaking research shedding new light on their chemical properties, therapeutic potential, and safety. The symposium seeks to bring together scientists, researchers, and experts from diverse disciplines to explore the latest developments in psychedelic chemistry. The area is highly cross-cutting and involves organic chemistry, biochemistry, and medicinal chemistry, as well as fields outside the molecular sciences (e.g. mycology and psychiatry). As such, the symposium will delve into the intricate chemistry behind these compounds, their origins and biosynthesis, their pharmacokinetics, the development of new synthetic psychedelics, and the mechanisms by which psychedelics induce altered states of consciousness.
