
Duong Nguyen
PhD Candidate, University of Colorado Boulder
Duong Nguyen is a second-year PhD student working with Dr. Anthony Straub in Department of
Civil, Environmental, and Architectural Engineering at University of Colorado Boulder. He
received a MS in Environmental Engineering at Arizona State University and a BS in
Environmental Science at Vietnam National University Hanoi. His research focuses on
innovative membrane materials and processes for desalination, water reuse, resource recovery,
and heat transfer. His career goal is to become a professor to help people access clean water and
low-cost energy, especially poor and marginalized populations in arid regions. He received 2021
Larson Aquatics Research Scholarship from American Water Works Association, 2020 AMTA-
USBR Fellowship from American Membrane Technology Association and Bureau of
Reclamation, and 2021 Student Fellowship from North American Membrane Society for his
current work on vapor-gap reverse osmosis.
