The symposium aims to explore the vast potential of phosphorus-containing polymers in various applications, ranging from halogen-free flame-retardants to biodegradable medical polymers, drug delivery, and imaging. Esteemed experts in the field, including pioneers in main-chain P-containing polymers like polyphosphoesters/amides and polyphosphazenes, as well as researchers working on side-chain containing polymers, nanomaterials, and nanocomposites with phosphorus components, will be invited to share their insights. With growing concerns regarding microplastics pollution and the environmental impact of persistent (polymeric) materials, the significance of degradable polymers continues to rise. Inspired by DNA, P-containing polymers are being discussed as promising alternatives for the aforementioned applications. This symposium serves as an inaugural event, intended to pave the way for a series of future symposiums in this exciting field."
