I was born and raised in California completing my masters in chemistry and biochemistry at SF State University studying the dynamics of hemoproteins with nanosecond pump-probe spectroscopy and molecular dynamics simulations. After this I travelled around the world to study the use of abiotic supramolecular assemblies to achieve new selectivity and reactivity from existing transition metal catalysis.  In this work I transferred the spectroscopic and simulation approaches that I developed in my masters to face challenges in understanding the structure and dynamics of supramolecular assemblies and their higher order complexes with transition metal catalysts. Here I will present my work with hydrogen bonded capsules, showing how surprisingly new information can be obtained for well-reported assemblies by further examination with accurately parameterized simulations validated by experimental spectroscopic evidence.
