David E. Lewis is a naturalized U.S. citizen who was born and raised in Australia. He was educated (B.Sc., Ph.D.,) at the University of Adelaide in South Australia, where he earned the D.Sc. in 2012. He is currently Proifessor of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (2015) and the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (1998), the recipient of the 2018 HIST Award for Outstanding Achievement in the History of Chemistry, and of the 2019 Markovnikov Medal for Outstanding Achievement in Organic Chemistry. His current writing projects include Addition, Elimination and Substitution: Markovnikov, Hofmann, Zaitsev and Walden, editing the English translation of A History of Organic Chemistry in the Universities of Russia, and Introductory Organic Chemistry.
