PhD University of Arizona, 1981 -- experimental and theoretical studies of the bonding and electronic structure of organometallic complexes.
My research career at Mobil and ExxonMobil spanned a wide range of topics in the design, synthesis and characterization of functionalized materials for catalysis, separations and CO2 capture, process chemistry, and fundamentals of amine-CO2 chemistry.
I led fruitful collaborations on Electrochemical Methods of CO2 Capture (MIT), The Synthesis and Characterization of N-doped Carbons for CO2 Capture (UT Austin), The Design and Structural Characterization of Covalent Organic Frameworks (Natl. Univ. Singapore) and co-lead on The Synthesis of Amine- and Guanidine- functionalized Polymers of Intrinsic Microporosity (Georgia Tech).
