Raman spectroscopy is a well-established, non-destructive technique that provides high precision drug structure analysis. It is superior to chemical arrestment methods due to its speed, simplicity, and efficiency. Portable MicroRaman spectroscopy makes it easy to collect data in many scientific fields, including forensic investigation and drug studies. The efficiency, capacity, and precision of drug analysis using Raman spectroscopy were evaluated, comparing conventional Raman spectroscopy at 532 nm with portable Raman spectroscopy at 785 nm, based on the difference of the reported peaks, percentage of error, standard deviation, and correlation coefficient in the data. The crystalline structures of acetaminophen, oxycodone, and other drugs were characterized. The drugs were exposed to different environmental conditions, including temperature, humidity, and time. Oxycodone was selected and exposed to temperatures of and for 7 days. The drug was then analyzed using conventional and portable Raman spectroscopy. The characteristic peaks of oxycodone at 1279 cm^–1, 1613 cm^–1, and 1649 cm^–1 correspond to CCC bending, CCH bending, and CH₂ bending stretching, respectively. These findings are consistent with the literature. The reported peaks of oxycodone after treatment were 1278 cm^–1, 1612 cm^–1, and 1651 cm^–1. The shift in the peak positions was minimal, possibly due to the temperature and environmental conditions. The reported peaks of oxycodone from portable Raman spectroscopy coincided with those from conventional Raman spectroscopy. Raman spectroscopy results showed that long-term exposure to environmental factors did not significantly affect the crystal structure of oxycodone. Further studies will be performed with other drugs.
