Dr. Christopher Whitehead
Postdoctoral Researcher, Union College
Dr. Whitehead is a postdoctoral researcher in the group of Prof. Jonathan De Roo at the University of Basel. There, he works on metal oxide nanocrystal and metal oxo cluster syntheses. He obtained his PhD from Colorado State University, where he worked in the group of Prof. Rick Finke. His doctoral work centered around the nucleation and growth mechanism of iridium nanoparticles. Dr. Whitehead will begin his independent career in August of 2022 at Union College, where he will be using plasmonic nanocrystals as sensors for heavy metal detection.
