Dr. Christina Miyabe-Shields PhD

Dr. Shields is a cannabinoid pharmacologist who specializes in the biochemistry and molecular biology of the endocannabinoid system. From 2010-2012 they evaluated drugs that act through eicosanoids, which are downstream of the endocannabioid system at the University of California, Davis. From 2012-2018 they completed their PhD at Northeastern University under Dr. Alexandros Makriyannis investigating the molecular mechanism of synthetic cannabinoids for drug discovery, but the phytocannabinoids always remained their core interest. In 2019 Dr. Shields began researching the rare cannabinoids, and they are currently investigating formulations of cannabinoids in cannabis smoke.
