In this symposium, we aim to highlight recent efforts, both experimental and computational, and discuss recent advancements made at fundamental levels and convey to the community the importance of liquid electrolytes design in the future success of existing and emerging applications. Topics covered in the symposium will include: ? Synthesis and characterization of novel electrolyte salts and solvents ? Novel techniques for probing short- and long-range interactions, including by synchrotron- and neutron-based techniques ? Fundamental understanding of double layers forming at electrochemical interfaces and ion transfer dynamics ? Development of novel simulation (ab initio and molecular dynamics) techniques
