Cameron did his PhD thesis in Scott Lokey's lab at UC Santa Cruz, working on elucidating the rules that underpin passive cell membrane permeability in "beyond rule of 5" compounds. While there he met a fellow grad student, Joshua Schwochert who would go on to become his co-founder of Unnatural Products, a drug discovery platform focused on imbuing cyclic peptides with small molecules like properties. Unnatural Products has grown from idea in the garage to a fully fledged discovery shop with internal oncology programs and best in-class external partners. He's spent the last decade of his building tools and understanding to solve the problem of macrocycle med. chem. and looks forward to the next decade of macrocycle development!
