Ashley Weiland attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA as a Bayer Scholar where she earned her B.S. in environmental chemistry with a mathematics minor. She was an active researcher under the guidance of Prof. Jennifer Aitken. Her honors undergraduate thesis focused on her work on lithium containing semiconductors. She completed her Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Texas at Dallas where she worked with Prof. Julia Chan. Her research focused on structure-property relationships of new quantum materials. As part of her DOE Science Graduate Student Research (SCGSR) Fellowship, Ashley spent three months at Argonne National Laboratory's Advanced Photon Source with Dr. Saul Lapidus performing in situ experiments on the formation of rare earth intermetallics. She is currently a Directors Fellow Postdoctoral Researcher at Los Alamos National Laboratory.
