I am Asela Dikkumbura, a citizen of Sri Lanka, born in Colombo. I was fortunate enough to have my relatives coming from an academic background who knew and appreciated the value of sound education. Therefore, from my school days, I was exposed to an academic environment. I entered Thurstan College, Colombo for my high school studies. I was able to perform exceptionally well at Thurstan and enter the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. After spending an unforgettable time at college, I joined the Department of Chemistry at The Open University of Sri Lanka and held several academic positions. The OUSL was another excellent institution where I could enhance my teaching skills and other academic activities. After spending more than five years there I came to the USA and started my MS degree at EIU in 2016 and obtained several awards. Currently, I am a PhD candidate at LSU and working under the supervision of Prof. Louis Haber, and hoping to finish the degree in Fall 2021.
