Anupama Achal Sharan

Anupama Achal Sharan is a third year PhD student in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry at the University of Toronto. A biological engineer by training, her research involves the discovery and application of biological catalysts for the conversion of industrial lignin to sustainable biopolymers. She is also interested in assessing the economic and environmental feasibility of such processes at industrial scale. Aside from research, she also works for women and minority empowerment in STEM through her role as President of the graduate chapter of SWE (Society of Women Engineers) at U of T. She has won several awards for academic and extra-curricular excellence both at graduate and undergraduate levels. Anupama is from India.
