Hello!
My name is Anthony Abeyta-Lopez and I am currently a 3rd year undergraduate student at the University of New Mexico pursuing degrees in both Chemistry and Biology. Since Summer 2018 I have been actively involved in research and have gained experience working in genetics and organic chemistry wet labs pursuing research focused on pharmaceutical development or the impact of drugs on aging.
As of June 2020 I have joined the MARC (Maximizing Access to Research Careers) program at the University of New Mexico and have pursued research into cheminformatics and drug discovery/repurposing under the guidance of Dr. Tudor Oprea in the Division of Translational Informatics. I currently spearhead an interdisciplinary project focused on drug repurposing for multiple sclerosis and similar autoimmune diseases. Luckily, with the help of MARC, I am able to pursue this research while I continue my studies and become prepared to enter graduate school.
I look forward to attending ACS Spring 2021!
